The Main Media Center of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games

Polymedia JSC, Russian AV system integrator, software manufacturer and developer, carried out a full range of the engineering and AV installation in the Main Media Center of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games. Within the project Polymedia equipped both media center and conference halls at the hotel for media representatives.

Press conferences, video-bridges, online broadcasting of competitions and award ceremonies, cultural and presentation actions are now available for holding in the media center.

There are 4 press conference halls in the Main Media Center: “Pushkin” for 465 media representatives, “Tolstoy” for 220, “Dostoevsky” for 140 and “Chekhov” for 50 guests. Each hall is equipped with a whole set of integrated systems: conference-system, videoconference system, sound system and simultaneous translation system. There are eight languages for synchronous to be available during press conferences, which in the peak period are expected to be 18 per day. Polymedia also integrated in the media center its own unique software PolyWall as an optimal visualization control solution. Polywall is the software for data visualization management that let the user control several displays and video walls from a single cross-platform user interface, working with pre-loaded or online-created scenarios for complex events, displaying the information from different types of sources and making all necessary actions to learn and analyze data without focusing on the organization of the whole technical complex. That gets the visualization process easier, the meeting – effective, and the time costs – optimal.

Two video-walls and backup LCD ware installed as a main visualization system in “The Pushkin” press hall. Presidium is equipped with twelve sliding monitor Element One, which settle a problem with picture area – during the photo sessions these monitors puts away and don’t close speaker’s face. Video walls in a smaller configuration (2x2 panels) are settled in “The Tolstoy” and “The Dostoevsky” press halls.

Press room for 500 journalists and a hall for photographers are equipped with two video walls. Entrance area is equipped with video wall and displays, which are unified in the Digital Signage system to broadcast timetables, video, announcements, news and other multimedia content broadcasting.

Conference halls in the hotel are equipped with visualization system, congress system, videoconference and acoustic systems.

The Main Media Center of the Olympic Games 2014 as well as the conference halls are equipped according to the highest requirements that are always claimed for this kind of projects. We did our best to create all conditions for journalists as they could comfortably cover all news from Olympic Games”, - said the Polymedia project manager Dmitry Semenov.
